I'm sorry to contact you out of the blue. I hope you don't mind.
I am getting in touch from a UK TV company and I'm working on a documentary for Channel Four about sexual abstinence. I am hoping you can help. We are looking for young people in teh UK who exercise abstinence and would be happy to talk openly and honestly about the decision behind their choices.
Would you be happy to talk to us? Or do you know other young christians who would?
The purpose of the documentary is to present the countercultural argument that there is a growing number of charismatic young people both in the UK and the US who are refusing to bend to the prevailing culture of promiscuity, and instead choose to abstain from sex before marriage.
It's an authored documentary in that the film maker Jamie Campbell - who was an abstainer until the age of 23, and who was a passionate evangelical Christian whose faith has now dissipated - is going in search of an answer i.e. Does sexual abstinence make for better long-term relationships when you marry, and would it be worth his while turning back to either faith and/or sexual abstinence?
Jamie’s journey will take him to many individual abstainers in the UK. But, since deliberate virginity and abstinence is much more prevalent in the States, the film will also take Jamie to organizations and individuals there. He will be undertaking a spiritual and philosophical journey to which he hopes there will be answers.
We’re a new company and as yet we don’t have a website but we are making this programme as a co production with a more established company called Nobles Gate who do have a website: www.noblesgate.co.uk.
It would be great to talk to you. Let me know what number would be best to reach you on. My number is 0207 479 4218.
Many thanks
