A really good book that I would recommend would be Joshua harris's book I kissed dating goodbye. I have been on the two sides of dating and courtship and courtship wins hands down. The dating life leaves you with memories and hurts that add baggage to your life. All baggage eventually leads to marriage for the majority. Marriage should be free of thoughts of past relationships. You should be fully devoted to your spouse. When you date you give pieces of yourself away that belong to your spouse, not to mention the hurts that can effect your marriage. Believe me I have dated and now am married. I wish I could go back and change things for the better. Imagine a marriage with no thoughts or past thoughts of another or comparisons, wow what a stronger marriage, especially including God.

My sister and I read that book about a year ago and now she is courting our pastor's son. She is soooo happy. But my other sisters are dating. So I see both sides play out. But I haven't really made a choice between courtship and dating. All my sisters are happy. So I am just watching and see God work through it all. I know that I just have to wait on God to know what is right. But right now I don't see a down side to dating or to courting! So We will just have to see! IN CHRIST, Kelsi

Dating is a modern concept. It was not even in existence in secular circles about 100 years ago. Recreational dating is demonic. i know , say what you think. but it is not found in scripture. it tempts people away from serving God. It leads them to heartache, to sexual temptation. Does that sound like God's will for us? I reccomend listening to a sermon by Paul washer. it is called the dating sermon. I am single and want to prepare myself to be the man God wants me to be. want to be able to lead, to honour my wife. i want to be a man, not a young man when i marry. www.sermonaudio.com www.wayofthemaster.com martin

"I Kissed Dating Goodbye" is awesome and completely revolutionized my thoughts on male/female relationships. Joshua Harris' other book, "Boy Meets Girl" is also good, though it is directed to those who have reached a point in their lives where they are ready for a relationship. As for courtship, I have done a successful courtship. We decided to separate. Remember that courtship has two possible successful conclusions: marriage, and separation. When doing a courtship, both people have to really work hard to maintain it. I can attest to the fact that it is very easy to fall out of the standards initially setup in the courtship. You also need to really take seriously the whole "not arousing one another" idea. It gets very hard to maintain your purity when everything you do incites feelings of passion and desire.
