Have any of you been affected by another person's drinking? Whether or not that person was considered an alcoholic, if you have been affected by someone else's drinking, I'd like to hear from you. God bless and Agape, Annie

my biological father was an alcoholic--I rarely seen him when I was young. He left without me seeing him for days as I waited for him to come home, the images never leave...In any addiction, you feel alone as you watch your loved ones, you are empty, angry, frustrated...their addiction takes over and becomes the most important thing in their lives, they will do anything to fuel it. The brain craves it and no matter how much you yell and scream--it doesn't matter, they see themselves and create messes for others to clean up or bail them out of. I have lived around much addictions--mom on prescriptions for most of her life and that is a whole other story. I know that you try to pick up the pieces, but to realize they are the ones creating their problems...esp. when the child cares for the parent, then you grow up thinking you need to watch over everyone.

Yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at. I grew up with all the adults in my life having unhealthy addictions and compulsions. Now, I'm afraid my husband is well on his way to alcoholism. It seems that he doesn't care about anything else anymore. I'm so frustrated and angry, too. WHY????? Why do I have to deal with this???? God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Thy will be done, Amen
