Eve’s Seven Deadly Wrongs
‘Seven Wrongs We Can All Be Caught Up In’
Genesis 3:1-10


Today we will be discussing a very important part of the fall of man. Will see how Eve’s seven deadly wrongs led her down the wrong path and ultimately caused her own fall. In each of our lives we can end up in the same position Eve was in and fall. My hope is in reading this you will be encouraged, uplifted, inspired, and most of all motivated to change those things in your life leading you down that wrong path.

Eve walked the in the garden with her husband Adam. She had been told by Adam all the things God had told him including do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But one day she fell into the first deadly wrong. She engaged in a Inappropriate Conversation.

She found herself talking to a ‘snake’. How many of us have ever found ourselves in a inappropriate conversation with a snake. Most of us have ended up in conversation with a snake. A snake is someone beneath us, who wants nothing good for us but everything for themselves. These snakes are selfish, self seeking, self indulging, self absorbed, uncompassionate, and LIARS. Nothing a snake says can be taken as true. They are straight up lairs.

Eve found herself talking to this snake, committing her first deadly wrong inappropriate conversation with a snake. How many of us can recall breaking this first deadly wrong. Maybe one of our friends is a snake always tempting us to smoke pot, have sex, or do other ungodly and sinful things.

After breaking the first deadly wrong the snake led her into the second deadly wrong Fabrication of the truth. The snake asked Eve if God really said she must not eat of the trees in the garden (first lie God never said that). Eve answered that God had told Adam and her that they may eat of any tree in the garden accept the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Eve went on to tell the snake that God said Adam and her couldn’t even touch the tree or its fruits or they would die.

The snake then spun his web of fabrication as he told Eve ‘you will not surely die………for God knows if you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God.’

How many of us have fallen victim to being involved in inappropriate conversation the lead to the fabrication of the truth. Has anyone ever told you that something great would happen if you did this or that? How about if you smoke this joint you’ll have this amazing high? If you steal that shirt you’ll be popular with the cool kids? If you pluck this, tuck that, add more eye shadow, less lipstick, and wear revealing clothes you’ll be more beautiful? If you’ve fallen into inappropriate conversation with a snake and then into a fabrication of the truth, chances are you’ve fallen to the third deadly wrong Deception.

Eve then in her mind began to be deceived by the snake. The snake had appealed to her longing to be a little bit more perfect. He enticed her want for more knowledge. The bible says she then noticed the tree and saw the tree was good and pleasing to her eyes and also desirable for gaining wisdom. The bible doesn’t say she ever really paid this tree any attention before. She simply didn’t care about it. When we start longing for stuff that never caught our attention before we need to step back and see if where being deceived. Why are you suddenly drawn to this after never caring about it before? Are you being led by an inappropriate conversation laced in fabrications that’s leading you to be deceived and see lies as pleasing and good?

We can fall to the deception of snakes when we allow them to fabricate the truth and entice our wants, needs, and feelings. They will play off your emotions and your deep longings. Do you feel lonely? Then the snake will offer you a bit of drugs to take your mind off your loneliness. Feeling down and out like everything you do is destined to fail? How about are you sad? How about a couple of beers to drown away your sorrows and feeling of failure? Did you feel unloved and unwanted? How about a snake that lies to you and takes your innocents away?

How did your fall start? Did you get into in inappropriate conversation with a snake who fabricated the truth of that first joint you smoked that led to your deception and lack of respect for your body, which caused you to have your first meaningless sexual experience before marriage? Where you deceived into thinking you could go to the party and not drink? Now you’re drinking every weekend and your grades at school or work is suffering.

Following her deception Eve took and ate of the apple leading us to the fourth deadly wrong perverted actions. Eve after having an inappropriate conversation laced in fabrication which lead to her deception, caused her to commit a perverted action. She ate of the forbidden fruit. What sinful perverted action has a snake led you into today?

Eve quickly fell into the fifth deadly wrong a new perception. I the bible says then she ate of the fruit and her eyes where opened. Now her eyes had always been opened since her creation. We aren’t talking about the physical eyes. The eyes that where opened where the eyes of her spirit. She became ashamed of herself and sowed fig leaves to cover her shame.

Where was the snake that caused this downfall effect? He was gone. He had gotten what he wanted and left. Snakes aren’t true friends. They’ll use you and abuse you. Then they’ll leave you.

When you come into the fifth deadly wrong new perception you find yourself wanting to hide your shame. You start to realize you’ve been deceived and you want to hide your shame from everyone else. You sow your own fig leaves and hide behind them. You fail to see your own beauty and realize your own worth. So you hide behind a mask to hide you shame.

It takes someone to bring evil into our lives for us to realize what real evil is. Our perception changes on that day we realize what real evil is. May it an uncle who molested you when you where five or a thief who robs your mom and you at gun point, or the first drunken night and the car crash that follow, or maybe it’s the first time you realize you an addict. Whatever it is something happened which opened your eyes to this evil sinful world you’d been ignoring for so long.

Then Eve fell fast into the sixth deadly wrong condemnation. She began to see her faults. She began to realize that she fell into an inappropriate conversation laced in fabrication, which lead to her deception to commit a perverted action, which opened her eyes with a new perception and gave her a feeling of condemnation. You began to ask yourself just how stupid you must have been. You feel like part of you is dead. Something inside you has dead and you can’t ever see it coming back to life again.

Then Eve fell into the seventh deadly wrong isolation. Eve then ran and hid. She hid so that no one could see her mistakes and heartaches. Many of us are at this stage we’ve hidden ourselves hoping no one will see our shame and realize how fake we are. We are faking the smile upon our face and faking that everything is alright inside. We feel totally dead and life is just a miserable meaningless road going on forever and ending nowhere.

Eve tried to hide but one person could find her. God came calling and looking for her. When we get to the seventh deadly wrong all that is left for us is to realize as Eve did that God is calling us. This leads us to the solution and way out of this problem Salvation.

God is calling for you and wants to cleanse your life and give you a new start with a clean slate. Your past is forgotten and your future is bright.

Remember it may be what you did that was wrong, but it doesn’t have to be who you are. Don’t let your mistakes define your life. We all can fall to the seven deadly wrongs, but we all can also find salvation at the end of that tunnel.

I encourage you all to skip down to salvation and save yourself some pain of going through each deadly wrong before you hopefully find salvation. We aren’t guaranteed tomorrow and if the snakes in our lives can have it their way we won’t survive the night. So find salvation in Christ tonight.

Ask Christ into your life today. Confess your sins and declare your freedom from them. Then read your bible daily and be blessed. May I suggest start by reading the gospel of JOHN and then First John and Second John? May God guide you and bless you.
