The Golden Compass ( A warning for Christian parents)

The Golden Compass ( A warning for Christian parents)

quote:

ORIGINAL: ManimalX

Christians, please do not contribute one cent to this garbage! The author of the books, Philip Pullman, has flat out stated his hatred of God and Christianity. He purposely set out to promote atheism and do everything in his power to mock God and anyone who believes in Him. The movie glosses over some of this, but the antichrist agenda is still there.

Please pass this movie up.

A movie based on a book that portrays the Church as the villain is not receiving much applause for its removal of religious references.

On the contrary, some Christian groups are upset over New Line Cinema's concerted effort to keep religion and godless themes out of the upcoming movie, "The Golden Compass," claiming it will encourage children to read a series that promotes atheism and "denigrates Christianity."

"The movie is made for the books," said Bill Donohue, president and CEO of the Catholic League. "Pullman (the author) is hoping his books will fly off the shelves at Christmastime."

Actress Nicole Kidman and James Bond actor Daniel Craig star in the movie adapted from the first novel in a fantasy trilogy called "His Dark Materials" by self-described atheist author Philip Pullman.

The series focuses on a 12-year-old girl named Lyra who sets on a quest in search of answers after her best friend is kidnapped. She travels to a parallel universe where everyone's soul is physically manifested into an alter ego, or "daemon," in animal form.

In the story, a malevolent governing body called "the Church," which answers to the "Vatican Council," is known to kidnap children for experimentation. With the help of a golden compass that reveals a coded answer to any question asked by the user, Lyra, by the trilogy's end, gets to the bottom of the missing children and kills a character called "God."

"These books denigrate Christianity, thrash the Catholic Church and sell the virtues of atheism," asserted Donahue of Catholic League, who earlier this month called on Christians to boycott the movie.

In the movie, which has been marketed as a children's fantasy film, many of the direct references to the Catholic Church have been relabeled. For instance, "the Church" is only referred to as "the Magisterium."

"They're intentionally watering down the most offensive element," Donohue said in a FOX News report.

While Donahue said he's not concerned about the movie, which he described as "fairly innocuous," he charges movie makers for engaging in a "deceitful, stealth campaign" to promote the book.

Donahue's organization has even published a brochure, entitled "The Golden Compass: Agenda Unmasked," as part of a campaign aimed to expose atheist elements of the series similar to what many conservatives have done to witchcraft in J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" books.

While Christian groups have unanimously denounced the English writer's books, some are waiting to see the "Compass" before taking a stance on the movie.

"I don't think a boycott will be effective. We have to see the film before we make that evaluation," Ted Baehr of The Christian Film and Television Commission said.

Other Christians think the book will inspire readers to search for a true higher power.

"It undoubtedly makes people question, but inspires them to look harder for more authentic religion," said Craig Detweiler, co-director of Reel Spirituality, a pop culture and religion think tank at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif, according to FOX News. "Pullman takes license in pointing out the scary, false gods and destructive idols we've created. In that sense, I think he's doing a great service."

Other critics of the movie also include fans of Pullman's trilogy. Many say they were disappointed that anti-religious and anti-Church themes of the book were "castrated" from the movie to make it more marketable to audiences in the United States and United Kingdom.

"It was clear right from the start that the makers of this film intended to take out the anti-religious elements of Pullman's book. In doing that they are taking the heart out of it, losing the point of it, castrating it," said Terry Sanderson, president of the National Secular Society, a British organization that promotes secularism and which Pullman is an honorary associate of.

"It seems that religion has now completely conquered America's cultural life and it is much the poorer for it," she said in The Guardian newspaper earlier this month. "What a shame that we have to endure such censorship here too."

Back in 2004, director Chris Weitz had told fans in an online posting that the removal of godless themes in the book was a high possibility since the "perceived anti-religiosity" would make the project financially "unviable."

Despite the changes, however, Pullman said in an interview with Western Mail, a Welsh newspaper, that he was "very happy" with the movie version of his story.

Pullman has revealed that his main contention is with those who "misuse religion, or any other kind of doctrine with a holy book" as means "to dominate and suppress human freedoms," according to a 2004 posting on his website Philip-Pullman.com.

The author, who is an honorary associate at Britain's National Secular Society and supporter of the British Humanist Association, has also admitted that "His Dark Materials" is a response to Christian author C.S. Lewis' "The Chronicles of Narnia."

"I loathe the 'Narnia' books," Pullman has said in previous press interviews. "I hate them with a deep and bitter passion, with their view of childhood as a golden age from which sexuality and adulthood are a falling away."

"The Golden Compass" is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on Dec. 7, 2007.

Make a diffrence in a child’s life !

Independent Research Demonstrates the Effectiveness of CASA Volunteers .
The Office of the Inspector General Report

In 2006, the US Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG) conducted an audit of the National CASA Association, as required by Congress. The results of this audit were released in January 2007.

The objectives of this audit report were to determine the types of activities funded by National CASA and to assess local CASA programs' performance against four outcome measures for cases involving CASA volunteers as compared with non-CASA cases. These outcomes include the length of time a child spends in foster care, the extent to which there is an increased provision of services, the percentage of cases permanently closed and achievement of the permanent plan for reunification or adoption.

Audit Report Results for CASA Advocacy

Length of Time in Foster Care
Children in cases involving a CASA volunteer were on average in foster care longer (between 1.2 months and 2 months) The audit ascribes the longer time to two factors:

Cases assigned to a CASA volunteer tend to involve the most serious cases of maltreatment, in which the children were more at risk.
The children have already been in foster care between 4.5 and 5.5 months before assignment of a CASA volunteer.
Children with a CASA volunteer are substantially less likely to spend time in long-term foster care, defined as more than 3 years in care: 13.3% for CASA cases versus 27.0% of all children in foster care.

Number of Services Provided

When a CASA volunteer was involved, both children and their parents were ordered by the courts to receive more services. The audit concluded that this was an indication that "CASA is effective in identifying the needs of children and parents."
Percentage of Cases Permanently Closed

Permanent closure is defined as the case being closed for any reason and the child not reentering the child welfare system (CWS). Cases involving a CASA volunteer are more likely to be "permanently closed" (i.e., the children are less likely to reenter the CWS) than cases where a CASA volunteer is not involved. The statistics vary from only 1.4% of children with a CASA volunteer reentering the CWS (CASA Data Request) to 9% of CASA children reentering the CWS (Youngclarke Review). This is in contrast to 16% for children not served by a volunteer.
Achievement of a Permanent Plan for Reunification or Adoption

Children with a CASA volunteer are more likely to be adopted and less likely to be reunified with their parents than children not assigned a CASA volunteer. The audit explains this finding as the result of CASA volunteers serving on typically the most serious cases of maltreatment and therefore cases where children are less likely to be reunified with their parents.
Audit Report Results for Activities Funded by National CASA

Over 93% of National CASA expenditures went to fund activities directly supporting CASA/GAL programs.
National CASA expended 6.85% of grant money on general and administrative activities. According to the audit report, National CASA spends significantly less on administrative costs than the 16.3% average administrative costs for human services nonprofit organizations.

Additional Studies Document Results of CASA Volunteer Advocacy
Like our volunteer advocates, the National CASA Association and our local programs strive for fact-based decision-making. Below is a summary of conclusive results from the Caliber study and other CASA studies selected by researchers with the ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /University of California, San Francisco Fresno Medical Education program for their high methodological quality.

Notable conclusive results from these studies include the following (numbers refer to studies referenced after results):

CASA volunteers spend most of their volunteer time in contact with a child. (1)
CASA volunteers spend significantly more time in contact with a child than a paid guardian ad litem. (2)
CASA volunteers are far more likely than paid attorneys to file written reports. (3, 4, 5)
CASA volunteers are highly effective in getting their recommendations accepted in court. In four out of five cases, all or almost all CASA volunteer recommendations are accepted. (1)
When a CASA volunteer is assigned, a higher number of services are ordered for children and families. (1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9)
A child with a CASA volunteer is more likely to be adopted. (8, 9, 10, 11)
A child with a CASA volunteer is as likely to be reunified with their birth parent as a child without a CASA volunteer. (3, 9, 11)
A child with a CASA volunteer is less likely to reenter the child welfare system. The proportion of reentries is consistently reduced by half. (8, 11, 12)

Overview
In 1977, a Seattle judge conceived the idea of using trained community volunteers to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court. So successful was this program that soon judges across the country began utilizing citizen advocates. In 1990, the US Congress encouraged the expansion of CASA programs with passage of the Victims of Child Abuse Act.

Today, we have grown to a network of more than 50,000 volunteers that serve 225,000 abused and neglected children through 900+ local program offices nationwide. Our advocates, also known as volunteer guardians ad litem in some jurisdictions, are appointed members of the court. Judges rely on the information these trusted advocates present.

The mission of the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association, together with its state and local members, is to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children so that they can thrive in safe,

permanent homes.

www.nationalcas Our Network
National CASA and our network of over 900 local community program offices support volunteers serving children. The role of local CASA programs is to recruit, train and support volunteers in their work with abused children. Following is how National CASA and our state organizations work with local CASA programs.

Role of National CASA: National CASA offers critical leadership and support to provide quality advocacy and lead the continued growth of the CASA network. Some of our specific activities:

Training & Curriculum: National CASA creates new, research-based training opportunities, such as our new e-learning series on educational advocacy, and continuously improves our core volunteer training curriculum

Technical Assistance: We offer extensive technical assistance to help programs serve more children more effectively

Volunteer Recruitment and Public Awareness: We coordinate national campaigns to help recruit CASA volunteers and raise awareness about child abuse. In recent years, the CASA cause has been featured in various media, reaching more than 155 million individuals. Much of this awareness is the result of National CASA being selected as a CBS Cares network charity

Resource Development and Grants: National CASA provides pass-through funding to local and state CASA/GAL programs. Grant funding comes primarily from the Department of Justice but also from private corporations and foundations
Role of State Organizations: Working in partnership with National CASA and local CASA programs, state organizations provide:

Additional support, technical assistance and information to local CASA programs
Support for developing new CASA programs in the state
Opportunities for communication, networking and support among CASA program staff
Increased awareness of CASA work and the needs of children who are abused and neglected in their states . www.nationalcasa.org

By using the website above you can find a center near you.

Teen Challenge is one of the oldest, largest and most successful programs of its kind in the world. Established in 1958 by David Wilkerson, Teen Challenge has grown to more than 170 centers in the United States. If you would like to know the story of how Teen Challenge started as told in the book "The Cross and the Switchblade," visit our store where you can order a copy of the book.

According to the 2002 National Survey on Drug Use, an estimated 7.7 million individuals age 12 or older were in need of care for an illicit drug problem. Furthermore, an estimated 18.6 million persons age 12 or older were in need of assistance for an alcohol problem. Teen Challenge has responded with action to statistics like these. Providing residential and non-residential care for thousands of men and women seeking freedom from life-controlling problems, Teen Challenge has become their answer.

In the process of breaking down the addiction cycle, Teen Challenge has become a solution to the addiction crisis. Teen Challenge is known throughout the world for providing successful recovery programs. Enthusiastic law enforcement officials, judges, mayors, governors and other prominent community and country leaders advocate the mission of Teen Challenge. Several United States presidents have voiced their appreciation for the unique work of Teen Challenge.

Teen Challenge is structured to allow flexibility in meeting the needs of those whose lives have been shattered by addictions. Where residential care is needed, Teen Challenge offers a well-developed, multi-phased discipleship training program. Teen Challenge also provides extensive non-residential assistance through personal and group sessions. Prevention programs are provided to thousands each year through public school assemblies and church meetings.

Teen Challenge has significant impact on local communities. By the time an individual enters Teen Challenge he has typically had almost every relationship and family tie shattered that might be helpful in recovery. He has usually formed strong relationships with people and groups that actually perpetuate the addiction spiral. After completing Teen Challenge, hope is restored to more than just the addict, but to the family as well. Solid, positive relationships within community and family are also re-established. Teen Challenge involvement in a community facilitates a reduction in drug-related crimes in the area. Prevention efforts within the community improve since recovered addicts exert a profound impact on family, friends, and community. The economic cost to society is reduced and restored men and women become contributors to their community. Teen Challenge even participates in community projects, outreaches, food bank services, correctional facility meetings, thrift stores and work projects. Many Teen Challenge programs offer assistance and referral services to the community.

Residential Program
Many of our centers offer a one-year residential program for adolescents and adults designed to help men and women learn how to live drug-free lives. During their 1-year stay, they do not hold down outside jobs, as all of their attention is focused on the program. We challenge the residents to embrace the Christian faith. We see that when they do, their lives are transformed and they find true meaning and purpose.

Residents follow strict rules and discipline. All residents adhere to a daily schedule which includes chapel, Bible classes and work assignments on or near the grounds. For information on Teen Challenge's curriculum visit the Teen Challenge Curriculum Page or contact us at tcusa@teenchallengeusa.com or call (417) 862-6969.

While most of our centers are for adults, some do offer residential programs for teenagers. Please contact the Teen Challenge center nearest you to find out what services they offer.

To get information on a specific Teen Challenge center it is best to contact that center directly. Look for one near you if you or someone that you love needs help.
Victory Fellowship

Our Story

Started in San Antonio, Texas in 1972, Victory Fellowship has become a nationally recognized faith-based spiritual growth center for addicts.

Many addicts commit multiple acts of crime on a daily basis to support their drug habits. So all consuming is this lifestyle that addicts will abandon and betray their families and friends, isolating themselves from healthy relationships.

We have a demonstrated track record of transforming hardcore criminals and substance abusers into responsible family members, contributing to their communities. It is nothing short of a miracle that some of these addicts become leaders in our programs, prepared to return to crime and drug infested neighborhoods as agents of transformation.

Victory Fellowship is an indigenous grass roots ministry. Unlike traditional churches, our common entry point is the Victory Home, located in west San Antonio, Texas. The many programs of the church are designed to support the sobriety of addicts and to restore their families. Those who participate in our program discover the vast network of Victory Fellowship that will support them and their families. Former addicts are the backbone of the leadership of the church. There are no fees or charges for anyone who walks through our doors.

I am sorry that I have not been on this site very much. The Lord gave me a ministry and I have been very busy spreading the love of Christ and his Gospel on five diffrent sites. Most of my time is on My Space . My screen name there is the same as this one. So if your on there please look me up.

Please support Brian "Head Welch former lead guitarist of Korn. You can do this by visting his webpage, prayer , ore buying his book. Prayer is what he needs the most !

His My Space is name is (Save Me from Myself ) so please look for him when you have a chance . I also added him to my top friends so he will be easier to find.

In February 2005, more than 10,000 people in Bakersfield, California, watched as Brian “Head” Welchâ€"the former lead guitarist of the controversial Nu-metal band Kornâ€"was saved by Jesus Christ. The event set off a media frenzy as observers from around the world sought to understand what led this rock star out of the darkness and into the light.

Now, in this courageous memoir, Head talks for the first time about his shocking embrace of God and the tumultuous decade that led him into the arms of Jesus Christ. Taking the reader backstage with Korn, Head tells the inside story of life in the band and how his rock star lifestyle resulted in an all-consuming addiction to methamphetamines. Head writes openly about the tour bus mayhem of Ozzfest and The Family Values tour, while providing a candid look at how the routine of recording and traveling placed him in a cycle of addiction that he could not break on his own.

Speaking honestly about his addiction, Head details his struggles with the drug that ultimately led him to seek a higher power. Despite his numerous attempts to free himself from his addiction, nothingâ€"not even the birth of his daughterâ€"could spur him to kick meth for good. Here he addresses how, with the help of God, he emerged from his dangerous lifestyle and found a path that was not only right for his daughter, it was right for him. In addition, he discusses the chaotic end to his time in Korn, and how his newfound faith has changed his perspective on his past.

Candid, compelling and inspirational, Save Me from Myself is a rock & roll journey unlike any other.

The Big Picture

The Big Picture

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

???Romans 8:28

There are times in our lives as Christians when God will do things or fail to do things that we want Him to do, and it will not make sense to us. And because we don’t see the big picture, we may falsely conclude that God has abandoned us. But we need to trust Him during these times, remembering that Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith. In other words, what God starts, He completes.

It seems as I get older, I get distracted and forget things all the time. But what if God forgot about us? What a frightening thought. Imagine being in the midst of a fiery trial as God is watching and waiting for that moment to take us out of it. Then the phone rings, and He is gone for a decade! Thankfully, God never forgets about us. He is in full control. He knows exactly what He is doing. He will complete what He has begun.

Sometimes in the middle of that process, we may think the Lord is missing it. But He isn’t. We’re the ones who are missing it. From our limited human viewpoint, we think of the temporal, but God lives in the eternal. We are thinking of today, but God is planning for tomorrow. We are thinking of comfort, but God is thinking of character. We are thinking of an easy time, but God is thinking of how to make us better people.

So let’s trust Him. Whatever our circumstances or hardships, let us believe His promise to His children, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). All things are working together.

God shall dry your tears

Praise be to the Father of compassion
and the God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles,
so that we can comfort those in any trouble
with the comfort we ourselves
have received from God.
2 Corinthians 2:3

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:17, 18

IN THE VALLYS WE GROW

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then we have to remember
That it's in the valleys we grow.

If we always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
We would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.

We have so much to learn
And our growth is very slow,
Sometimes we need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys we grow.

We do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.

The little valleys are nothing
When we picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.

Thank you for the valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it's in the valleys I grow!

Have a blessed day!

REMEMBER...
The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor. The one who kneels to the Lord, can stand up to anything.

God is there. For you. Today. Always. Forever.
He is there... For you! And He wants you to know it.He wants you to live in this reality.
It does not depend on your feelings or your thoughts.

He is there, for you. Always.

He is your Friend. He listens to your complaints
and He is full of attention when you are hurting.

He is there. For you. He listens and He is full of understanding. Don’t doubt that. He is there. He knows. He listens. He understands. He will help you.

You can share your heart with Him.
Your joys and your griefs. Your dreams and your fears. He is your Friend. Your faithful one.

I am with you...

I am with you. Always.
No matter what your life looks like.
No matter what you are thinking.
No matter what is happening around you.

I am. I am with you. Always.

I made the decision to serve and love you. Always.

My hand is upon you, my child.
My hand will guide and lead you.
My hand will protect you.
My hand will strengthen you.
My hand will never leave you.

I have made the choice to help you.
I have made the choice to love you.
I have made the choice to be there.

For you.

So rest in Me. So rest in My presence.
So rest in the assurance that I do not leave you.
Rest, my child and find healing.
Rest and find life.
Rest and find Me.

I am. With you.

I love you.

What GOD says...

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.Deuteronomy 31:5, 6

Keep your lives free from the love of money
and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."Hebrews 13:5

Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.
Psalm 73:23, 24

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19, 20

In my integrity you uphold me
and set me in your presence forever.
Psalm 41:12

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD . They rejoice in your name all day long;
they exult in your righteousness.
Psalm 89:14-16

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

Dearest Father In Heaven,

I have been examining my life, and it seems I can see too much of me and not enough of You. It has caused me to request something quite spectacular from You. I want to experience more of Your awesome power in every aspect of my life. I am moved and inspired at how You reveal Your power every day in the grandeur of Your creation and the depth of Your artistry. Everything from the stunning peaks of the tallest mountains to the mysterious depths of the deepest oceans bears Your signature of power.

When the storm rages, the winds blow, and the lightning streaks across the sky, it is Your thunderous voice that is heard heralding Your living power. Your powerful artistry is expressed in the excitement of Your golden dawns and in the peace of Your rich, pastel sunsets. Just as You reveal Your power in these works of creation, I want You to reveal Your power in my life and fill me with Your love. I want all that I do and all that I am to bear Your signature of power. I want the boldness of my actions to light the horizons and the weight of my words to be spoken with thunderous truth and of a heavenly heart.

Yes, it is my greatest desire that my life be a portrait of Your power, painted by Your almighty hand.

Your Loving Child

Dear Loving Child,

My answer comes from heaven with the rescuing power of My right hand. What I have produced in your life is better than the purest of gold and surpasses the finest of silver.

Who has measured the waters in His hand or with His hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the earth's dust in a basket or placed the mountains on a scale and the hills on a balance? To whom will you compare Me, who is My equal?
I displayed the stars one by one and called them by name. Because of My great power and strength, not one of them is missing. I will give strength to you when you are weary and increased power when you are weak, You will fly like an eagle, run without growing tired, and walk without fading in strength, For I am a light and a shield, and I give you benefits and honor; nothing good will be withheld from you when you live in purity. You possess a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline,

Fulfillment is in the life of those
who trust Me.

A major Anti-Christ revealed

Newsweek

Feb. 5, 2007 issue - At first glance, the congregation gathered in a warehouse in Doral, Fla., seems like a typical Hispanic evangelical group. There's the 10-piece band, the singing and swaying, the whooping and hollering. But look a little more closely. There's not a cross in sight. The lectern is emblazoned with a near replica of the U.S. presidential seal, except that it reads in Spanish, government of god on earth. Off to the side stand three burly guys in dark suits with Secret Service-style earpieces. When a door by the stage opens, the guards leap into action. They surround the man with slicked-back hair who emerges and escort him to his seat. When the crowd spots him, it goes wild. People chant, "Lord! Lord! Lord!" It quickly becomes clear that they're referring to him. "It's Jesus Christ himself!" a preacher onstage announces. "Let's welcome Jesus Christ Man!"
In the rapturous eyes of his flock, Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda is, in fact, the second coming of Christ. As the head of the Growing in Grace International Ministry, he presides over a sprawling organization that includes more than 300 congregations in two dozen countries, from Argentina to Australia. He counts more than 100,000 followers and claims to reach millions more through a 24-hour TV channel, a radio show and several Web sites. He is supported by the generosity of his devotees, who have launched some 450 businesses to pour cash into Growing in Grace's coffers. Though de Jesus' followers worship him, others denounce him as a charlatan. Everyone, however, agrees on one thing: his teachings are incendiary.

Growing in Grace: Followers of De Jesus believe he is Lord
----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------

A native of Puerto Rico, de Jesus, 60, spent his youth drifting from the Roman Catholics to the Pentecostals to the Baptists. Then one night in 1973, he says, he awoke to a vision of two hulking men at his bedside who announced the arrival of the Lord, who, says de Jesus, "came to me and integrated with me." In the early years after founding Growing in Grace in Miami in 1986, de Jesus didn't claim to be Christ. Instead, he worked as a pastor spreading his doctrine: that under a new covenant with God, there is no sin and no Satan, and people are predestined to be saved. But as his following expanded, his claims did, too. In 1998, de Jesus avowed that he was the reincarnation of the Apostle Paul. Two years ago at Growing in Grace's world convention in Venezuela, he declared himself Christ. And just last week, he called himself the Antichrist and revealed a "666" tattooed on his forearm. His explanation: that, as the second coming of Christ, he rejects the continued worship of Jesus of Nazareth.
