The other night I was laying in bed praying and listening for God to speak to me.... Speak He did!! I was standing in front of the lake of fire and God (the Father) was with me. The fire lake was as large as the ocean. I can not tell you how intimidated and lost I felt because I knew this was MY fate. Off to my left I saw Jesus standing (not looking at me) on the edge of the lake. God spoke to me and told me I had a choice. I could either spend eternity in that huge lake of (very hot) fire (because of my life of sin), or send Jesus (who was totally innocent of MY transgressions) to the cross to die. I contemplated the decision............ I came up with the logic that I knew Jesus would be raised again in 3 days, and the lake of fire was for all eternity.... so I am ashamed to say that I was chose for Him to die so I could escape my well deserved fate.
The the thought hit me........But how could I live with myself for all eternity knowing I had condemned an innocent man.
God spoke to me and said...."Because I love you enough to not want you to spend an eternity in physical agony, and enough that I don't want you to spend an eternity in guilt, I love you enough that I made the decision for you! A way to escape with no guilt! And I felt humbled that God loves me that much..............................................
The next time that someone asks how God could send His Son to earth to die, tell them so they could escape hell..... and not feel guilty. And always remember guilt never comes from God!!
