I just got back from Wal-Mart and was thinking about something I've seen there. It wasn't a toy, or food, or any materialistic thing. It was something someone did the I was in awe of.
A little boy was running down the aisle crying and screaming with fear in his eyes. Everyone around him was just staring and I'm sure he felt like a fish out of water. One person out of the crowd walked over and touched his arm. At first he turned away and kept crying but then she said some comforting words and grabbed his hand without thinking. The woman walked away to help the boy find his mother. The hospitality shown here was so great that I couldn't help thinking about it all the way home. She didn't even think twice, she just grabbed his hand and walked past all the people looking at them. Before I knew it they were gone leaving all of the crowd to be on their way.
I kept thinking about it all the way home and then decided to write this to all those people who would have just stared at that boy. As we walked on in Wal-Mart I was wondering if the boy found his mom. Then I turned when I heard someone saying " Don't leave me again." It was the boy's mother talking to the boy. But the woman was nowhere in sight. I want to thank her for her hospitality. Even now I think it was a courageous thing to do even if no one was looking I know she would have done it anyway. There is another lesson to learn here too. The woman who helped him, was black, and the boy who needed help, was white. Even after the racial diversity going on between blacks and whites for several years that boy needed help, and that woman didn't mind the differences between her and that boy. He needed help, and she could provide it, so that's just what she did. Because watching that boy in fear, was not an option.
AMEN!!!
