Kitchen Sabotage!

God is not a God of disorder but of peace.
1 Corinthians 14:33

Kathleen’s kitchen cupboards and drawers were a mess. Cupboards overflowed with mismatched dishes, receipts, expired prescriptions, and empty bottles of cough medicine. Twist ties, clothespins, and rubber bands cluttered the silverware drawer. There was no doubt about it-her kitchen had been sabotaged by the excess of daily life!

When her husband announced an upcoming camping trip, Kathleen sensed an opportunity to undo some of the damage to the kitchen. She helped pack food, swimming supplies, sleeping bags, flashlights, toys, and the clothes needed for a weekend in the woods. But when the time came for the car and camper to pull out of the driveway, she was not aboard. She turned back to the house to face the kitchen-clutter monster!

Armed with cleaning supplies, trash bags, and new shelf paper, Kathleen went to work. Soon she had unloaded the contents of the cupboards onto the kitchen table and the hallway floor. Time flew by, and she barely stopped to eat. But the interiors of those cupboards smelled fresh and clean, and the only items allowed back were things that were supposed to be there. Then she tackled the drawers.

When Kathleen finished, the cupboards were done. The drawers were organized. The counters were clear. Her body ached, but it felt good. She had taken a disorganized mess and made it into a useful kitchen once again.

Is there an area of your home or life that has been sabotaged by the excesses of life?

Our life is frittered away by detail...simplify, simplify.

The question for today is “I can improve my outlook by organizing?
