Peace at Last

With a throbbing headache, Diane prepared breakfast for her children and made a mental note of all the people she needed to contact. Her aunt in the nursing home. Her single neighbor down the street. But she just didn't have the time! Diane thought of a friend who had just lost her mother. A simple card could say so much.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the telephone. Her prayer partner told her that a man in their church had just suffered a heart attack. So many needs, and so little time!

"If only I had time to take care of all these things, lord," she whispered.

In a few minutes, the kids were gone, and silence filled the house. Finally, she could rest. She turned on the television, then it dawned on her that this would be the perfect time to address a few cards and make some calls. After a few minutes of prayer, Diane wrote out notes and dropped them in the mail on her way to visit her aunt. Then she returned home and had the entire afternoon to clean house and prepare dinner. After dinner there was enough left over to take a plateful of food to a lonely nieghbor.

When she got home, Diane thought she had never felt better. God had given her the time she needed to take care of all the things that had weighed so heavily on her heart. And giving, she had received far more than she ever expected.


God takes life's pieces and gives us unbroken peace.
