What's it worth?
Posted On: 01/09/2007 08:26:00

Sometimes I really have to wonder what's life worth. No I'm not saying I hate God because of what this world puts us through, I understand that everything that happens has a purpose. What I don't understand is what a life is worth. God died for us, that is known to any one who has accepted Christ as savior. But how can Christians claim what God has blessed them with, and still do things there own way? How can they claim that God has corrected their lifestyle and still live as though He hasn't? How can they claim to know God and profess to live His love, grace and truth, when they treat others like they aren't worth the time of day?

Were the Christians not in that same place before they were saved? Does it not dawn on them that God's grace is to be shown to others and shared, not locked away and hidden from the world? Are we so afraid of what others will say that we don't live the way God intended us too?

The questions in my mind about why God chose me to live for Him are ever present. But to know that He blessed me despite my many faults and screw ups makes life worth living. God loved us enough to send His Son to die for our sins that we may live, shouldn't that be enough to make life worth it? For many it is, they take the blessing of live and love and grace that they have been given and run with it. Blessing those around them, and touching the lives of those that most wouldn't dare witness too. But the simple blessing of having these people in our lives is amazing. There is a fire burning within them that never fades. They want to share what God has given them, and they want to share it with everyone. For others the death of God's Son isn't enough. They accept that they have sinned but would rather live the way they want to than live for God. Christ's death and grace is nothing more than a way to get to heaven and a way to excuse their bad behavior.

It's this attitude that makes me wonder what life is worth. I don't understand how people can claim Christ and the Christian lifestyle, go to church every sunday singing worship, go to Bible study and fellowship, pretending to play the part when you could honestly care less. They claim they want to see this nation change, to see this nation come back to God. Do they not understand that their lifestyle is one reason this nation isn't going back to God? Do they not understand that they are being hypocrites of their faith?

What will it take for them to realize that the only way to make a reform in this nation is to actually live what you believe? People talk big, they claim they have no fear of the persecution that could befall them for proclaiming their belief in God. But when it comes down to it how many of them would rather live then be persecuted. This nation has become a comfort zone, believe what you want but don't tell others about it. Christianity doesn't work that way! If you honestly believe it then why won't you live it? It's better to live for Christ and proclaim what He has done for you, than to silently watch as your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ are persecuted around the world for what they believe.

So I ask again what is life worth if you won't live for the one who died for you?
