What's New With The Jesus Nexus and My Jesus Nexus Hey everyone, much has been happening with us and I wanted to take a few minutes to give everyone more details on our events and ministry. We will be having a concert May 24th in Zephyrhills, Florida. It will feature Superchick and 12 other bands. There will also be guest speakers coming from around the country to talk about a couple of very important issues that we have talked about with some of our friends on myspace and the other networks we work on. Those issues are Self/Injury (cutting), Suicide, and Abuse. If you are dealing with any of these or have friends who are, I ask that you try and make it to this event, we are expecting up to 10,000 people to attend, it will be a powerful day, one filled with hope and love. It is open to all ages, if you're a parent of teens, I strongly urge you to attend and hear these testimony's and learn the signs to look for. Just to let you know, we have youth that grew up in good Christian homes that did cutting and their parents never knew. Lookâs like a lot, but itâs all tied together as one. I wrote a blog a couple of weeks back, about â Joelâs Outpouringâ from Joel 2:28 and in it I stated that I believe it is taking place now and that there are some that believe it refers to events that took place before Jesus came to die on the cross. I want to explain why I believe it is taking place now and show in scripture why I believe it. So we will start with; Joel 2:28,29 And afterward I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. I will show wonders in the heavens and on earth. I believe this is talking about the gift of the Holy Spirit that Jesus tells us we will receive until his return. (Luke 24:49) and (Acts 1:4-8) I also believe this to be the case because Peter clearly states that it is just that in Acts 4:16-21) when the people believed that the disciples were just drunk. Peter says in verse 16, âNo, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joelâ and then he goes on the quote Joel 2:28-32. I need nothing more than that to convince me that the gift of the Holy Spirit is what all this refers to. Well how can you say it speaks about a great revival to come? Glad you asked. I believe the Bible to be The Holy Word of God. I believe that the early church believed this without question and we saw in Acts and other books the awesome results of their faith. Then why do we not see more of this today? I believe II Timothy 3:5 and 7 explain it best. The third chapter tells us of how the world and church will be in the âLast Daysâ verse 5 says, âhaving a form of godliness but denying itâs powerâ and verse 7, â always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. I believe there a many churchâs that do not deny itâs power and do acknowledge the truth. But I also believe as a whole the church has entered a place of denial, and fear. It is more afraid of offending itâs members than itâs God. So how does this lead to revival? From this ministry I have seen something awesome taking place, just as it was in the early church (Acts 2:44-47) so it begins again. People seeking the truth are starting âhome churchâsâ that preach the gospel and the truth of Godâs living word. It is taking place all over this country and the world. And because of this believers are seeing visions and dreaming dreams, and prophesying. And the most common vision? Well itâs revival, a great revival unlike the world has ever seen. This is a revival of Truth and a revival of Power! I also see a call to take Jesus out of the church on Sunday and into the community and on to the streets. I saw a small group of several hundred go into the streets of Orlando a few weeks ago and get 18,000 people to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior in one weekend. When believers learn of their authority over the enemy, how to walk in Godâs will, and obey the commands that God has placed before us, like the âGreat Commissionâ We will see the power of God move and His truth made known to all. I hope this better explains my belief to you and all I can say is keep your eyes open, itâs coming! God bless, mel
Shining Through âLet your light so shine before men, that they see your good works and glorify your father in heaven.â Matthew 5:16 A little girl was among a group of people being given a guided tour through a great cathedral. As the guide explained the various parts of the structure-the altar, the choir, the screen, and the nave- the little girlâs attention was intently focused on a stained glass window. For a long time she silently pondered the window. Looking up at the various figures, her face was bathed in a rainbow of color as the afternoon sun poured into the transept of the huge cathedral. As the group was about to move on, she gathered enough courage to ask the tour conductor a question. âWho are those people in that pretty window?â âThose are the saints,â the guide replied. That night, as the little girl was preparing for bed, she told her mother proudly: âI know who the saints are.â âOh?â replied the mother. âAnd just who are the saints?â Without a momentâs hesitation the little girl replied: âThey are the people who let the light shine through!â As you look back over your day, did you let Godâs light shine through? Sometimes we pass these opportunities by, saying, â It will just take too much out of me.â but the Bible lets us know that everything we give will come back to us- multiplied. (See Luke 6:38) Remember, the light of your life gives those around you a glimpse of Jesus, the Source of eternal and constant light. As you let your light shine, it will grow brighter! Should first my lamp spread light and purest rays bestow The oil must then from you, my dearest Jesus, flow. The question for today is: I can let Godâs Light shine through me by? This Is An Emergency! Let us show the world who we are called to be. There are brothers and sisters living on the streets needing to see the love of Jesus. Children, hungry, abused, believing there is no hope. There are people putting drugs in themselves hoping to fill a void in there life. There are so many broken hearted including Christians, why? This is an emergency. God is calling for them to come home. Reach out your hands to them, lead them home to Jesus. There are even churches, forsaking those in need, not seeing the forest for the trees. I am in New Orleans right now and what I see is isnât right. Churches are rebuilt and homes are not. Is this love, is this mercy? The Church isnât a building but rather, the people serving those in need. Money used for the good of who? No wonder people call Christians hypocrites They have forgotten the mission God has entrusted them with. They turn our back to those crying out for help. Remember what you do to these, you do also to him (Jesus). This is an emergency. Love and mercy, where are you? This is a generation lost, desperate to find answers, a reason to live, trying to make sense of a messed up world. There are people cutting themselves to use pain to fill the emptiness they feel. There are people killing themselves because they see no way out of the hurt inside. This is an emergency! Reach out your hands and pick up the crippled. Where is our faith, we read the Word of God and do not trust in it. This is an emergency. I am here to tell you, it is true, it is real, it is all powerful! Godâs promises are kept! We need only believe and trust in Him, He will never leave us or forsake us. In Christ we stand! Sinners all are we, and If you feel you stand alone today, You donât! God is there and loves you dearly. His Son, Jesus Christ came to us because of this love. He came to die a horrible death on the cross, for the sin of the world. He is holding out His hands to bring you home, and reveal the awesome plan he has for your life, known to him before time began. Confess him as the Son of the living God, and ask Him to come into your life and he will make you a new creature and all your sins will be washed away. In Jesus Name, Amen. Mel www.myjesusnexus.com
Whatever you dislike in another person take care to correct in yourself. In A Closer Walk, Catherine Marshall writes: âOne morning last week He gave me an assignment: for one day I was to go on a âfastâ from criticism. I was not to criticize anybody about anything.â âFor the first half of the day, I simply felt a void, almost as if I had been wiped out as a person. This was especially true at lunch..... I listened to the others and kept silent.... In our talkative family no one seemed to notice. Besumed, I noticed that my comments were not missed. Th federal goverment, the judicial system, and the institutional church could apparently get along fine without my penetrating observations. But still I didnât see what this fast on criticism was accomplishing-until mid-afternoon. âThat afternoon, a specific, postive vision for this life was dropped into my mind with Godâs unmistakeable hallmark on it- joy! Ideas began to flow in a way I had not experienced in years. Now it was apparent what the Lord wanted me to see. My critical nature had not corrected a single one of the multitudinous things I found fault with. What it had done was to stifle my own creativity.â Before you are tempted to criticize someone, examine your own life. While you may not commit the same act or have he same habit youâre about to criticize, you probably have some behavior that could be criticized. Donât stifle your creativity with criticism! âWhat do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brotherâs eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? What Do You Want? I thank you and praise you, O God of my fathers, Who has given me wisdom and might and has made in own to me now what we desired of you. Daniel 2:23 Children are quick to respond to their enviroment. Babies immediately cry when they are hungry, thirsty, tired, sick, or wet. Toddlers are not at all bashful in communicating what they do and do not want. However, as we grow older, maturity teaches us to use discernment in making our desires known and to give way to the needs of others in many situations. The Lord nevertheless tells us we are wise to always come to Him as little children -telling Him precisely what we need and want. While looking directly at a man whom He knew was blind, Jesus asked, him, âWhat do you want Me to do for you?â Without hesitation he replied, âMaster, let me receive my sightâ (Mark 10:51). Jesus could see he was blind, yet He asked him to make a request. In like manner, God knows what you need âbefore you ask Himâ (Matthew 6:8). Yet He says in His Word, âby prayer and petition (definite requests)....continue to make your wants known to Godâ (Philippians 4:6). Why pray for what seems to be obvious? Because in stating precisely what we want, our needs and desires become obvious to us. State your request boldly before the Lord tonight. Heâll hear you. Heâll respond to you. And just as important, youâll hear yourself and respond in a new way to him. Our prayers must mean something to us if they are to mean anything to God. The Question for Today Is âFather, I Have a need to bring to you? Taken out of the book of âQuiet Moments with God for Women.â For more Devotionals please go to www.myjesusnexus.com
The following was given to me today by proud Grandparents, and after you read this youâll see why. It was written by a young lady that only months before was ready to end the life that God had given her. What is awesome about this is that she has found out about the love of Jesus and that God has a purpose for her life, and it is not only her but everyone that walks this earth. THIS IS MY WALK WITH JESUS.... It all happened so fast. One day it hit me. I was awakened. I was reborn. You see, I have spent 22 years of my life living it the way I wanted to. I rarely let God speak to my heart. I was in control. Then something happened to me. I wasnât the same Jillian anymore. I let it all go. I learned that I cannot control what happens next in my life because of this wonderful, life changing, blessed concept...before I was even thought of, God had already planned my life. He even knows how many hairs are on my head. How amazing is that? He cares about me so much that He has already planned my life for me, I just have to let His will be done. So whatever or wherever I am supposed to be I will be because I have fallen in love with my Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus loves me unconditionally. Even though all of the times I have failed Him. I am a sinner. But I have asked for forgiveness and I am forgiven. It is an awesome feeling to know that my Savior wonât leave me for the things I have done. He wonât ever turn His back or ignore me. He will always listen and He knows what I am thinking or going to say, but always lets me talk. For this my heart has changed. I want to spend the rest of my life learning, teaching, witnessing, and bringing the greatest gift of salvation to people. So I decided to be baptized. Like my grandpa has told me, âIt is an outward expression of something that has happened internally.â I am doing this for me and my relationship with Jesus. I want to live a new life based solely on my Christian faith. But I need the love and support of my family and friends to encourage me to continue my walk with Jesus. That is why you are here. Because I love each one of you and I know some of you have already experienced this feeling in your own relationship with our Savior. And Iâm thankful that I get to share eternity with Jesus and my family and friends. This life on earth is just for a while and I will not waste it anymore. I want to be rewarded for me belief and witnessing to people on earth when I go home to Heaven. I want to hear Jesus say to me, âWell done, my good and faithful servant.â Encourage me and build me up, I will do the same for all of you. Thank you for sharing this special day with me. It means more than you know. I love you all and I LOVE MY SAVIOR! Jillian 8-5-07 AND I AM NOT DONE WALKING YET!!!! Itâs hard to believe that months before she felt she had no reason to live. Now she is filled with life, love and hope. You to can feel the way she feels, by coming to the foot of the cross and asking Jesus to forgive you for your sins and confessing him as The Son Of The Living God. Once you do this He will begin to reveal his purpose and plan for your life. If you have any questions or need someone to talk to visit or site myjesusnexus.com You can find me there, most of all you can find Jesus there too! God Bless, Pastor Mel Pettit
Missions Is it our call as Christians? When I started , or I should say when God placed me in this internet outreach ministry, It really didnât dawn on me what it really was until a lady at my church pointed it out, âOh, you do missions workâ. And yes that is exactly what we do, and in this age of technology what an awesome way to go and make disciples of all nations, as Jesus commanded all of us to do in Matthew 28:19. We are to be world changers, allowing Godâs will, his vision, to influence our own, we need to allow God to guide us in the way that points us to his purpose for our lives. While we are thinking about what to wear to work and how much money we need to retire, God is thinking about all the tribes of all the nations that need to hear the âGood News of Salvationâ All to often Christians think itâs only the preachers that are called for this task, but once we believe, we all become disciples of Jesus, commanded by our Lord to preach the gospel. So are we all to have a church, not exactly, as I have said before, to share the gospel you do not need to know all the verses in the bible, but only share with people what Jesus has done for you and what Jesus can do for them, What Jesus has done for us, âThe Worldâ. We need to get radical people, we need to turn the world upside down. If you lay your life on the line for Christ your ministry will grow whether it be here in the USA, or overseas. G. K. Chesterton, a British Writer and Christian Apologist once said, âJesus promised his disciples three things-that they would be completely fearless, absurdly happy, and in constant trouble.â Are we completely fearless? Absurdly happy? Or in constant trouble? Well are we? We live in a country that for now, you can speak your mind and instead we are in fear of offending people by speaking the truth. How can we be happy when we live in fear, how can we get in trouble living like this? Meanwhile there are people in other countries dying for sharing the gospel, dying and being tortured for our Lord and Savior. God forgive us. Our brothers and sisters are putting their lives on the line for Jesus, while we sit back and enjoy the ride. In this country we have the greatest opportunity to reach a world in need and we pass our responsibility on to others. âI took you from the ends of the earth, from itâs farthest corners I called you. I said, âYou are my servantâ; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.â Isaiah 41:9 He called us, We are His servants, we are His chosen, yet we reject His commands! Why? You can make a difference and itâs not to late to start. We affect the people closest to us, like our family and friends. Even though you may feel called to enter ministries as an apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, or teacher (Ephesians 4:11)- and to go out into the world, just start where you are now. Wherever you are right at this moment, is where God wants you to be, so donât think you canât begin in your own hometown, school, college, or work place. God has a reason for you being where you are, find out what or who that reason is. But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. 1 Peter 2:12 Ministry has no age limits, we are all commanded to share the Good News, and God will use you if you only open your heart to him and say use me Father. Start now and change the world. And what will the outcome of all this be? Well God tells us exactly what the end result will be. After this I looked up and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. Revelation 7:9 What a sight we shall see on that day! In Jesus Name, Amen. Mel We are www.myjesusnexus.com
When You Flee Temptations Donât Leave A Forwarding Address Velazquez Polk and Janet Kuzmaak both grew up in Portland Oregon, but the two couldnât have been different. Polk was a tough street kid who joined a gang at age ten and was eventually arrested for selling drugs. Kuzmaak was an honor roll student from an upper class neighborhood. In 1980, Kuzmaakâs sister was raped and strangled to death. Authorities never found her killer. She came to regard every criminal as her sisterâs murderer. Kuzmaak eventually became a nurse at a major medical center. Polk, released from jail in 1990, was given a job as her surgical aide. Kuzmaak was furious. She didnât believe in rehabilitation for criminals. But she noticed that when Polkâs gang-member friends tried to entice him to rejoin their ranks, he refused. He told Kuzmaak he wanted to flee his old life and join a program to become a nurseâs aide. She remembered her sister had once befriended a man on parole, so she lobbied the hospital to pay Polkâs tuition while she continued to monitor him. Today, she and Polk are great friends. She helped him gain entrance into a world that he once did not know existed. He helped sweep away the bitterness that had once poisoned her heart. Change and growth are always possible if you first turn away from evil, determined not to return. Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness... with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22 NAS The following is from the book, âGodâs Little Devotional Book for Teensâ God Bless, mel We are www.myjesusnexus.com
